马来西亚财政部副部长否认该国将采用比特币作为法定货币:3月24日消息，马来西亚财政部副部长驳斥了最近有关比特币和其他数字资产可能在马来西亚合法化的猜测。Mohd Shahar Abdullah表示，取而代之的是，该国将专注于发行一种央行数字货币。
“由于各种限制，像比特币这样的加密货币不适合用作支付工具，”副部长表示，但他没有提供所谓“各种限制”的细节。他同时指出，不断增长的技术和支付环境促使马来西亚央行积极评估CBDC的潜力。
